Alexander Prior, conductor / composer

Already recognised as a youth ambassador for British talent, Alexander's passion for music stood out from a very young age. He has now written more than 40 works, and has seen his music performed by respected orchestras and ensembles - and has conducted some of them himself - as well as being the recipient of several prestigious composition awards.

In recent news, Alexander has won second prize at the prestigious 2008 International Prokofiev Composition Competition - his Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No 2 Northern Dances was performed by the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of St Petersburg in the Great Philharmonic Hall.

'Alexander Prior is no ordinary teenager.. unlike Britain's growing army of teenagers said to base their ambitions for fame on little more than a snatched appearance on a reality television show, Alexander has built up an impressive musical pedigree. At 12, he was the youngest commended musician in the BBC Young Composer of the Year competition and knocked off a competition in Russia for composers under the age of 25.'
